Role of Athletics and Higher Education
I began in 2017 as an assistant editor for Athletic Director U., a website designed to promote thought leadership ideas among intercollegiate athletic directors. It is a vertical business for the D1.Ticker family of publications. Since that time, I have authored nearly 40 pieces of original content aimed at helping athletic administrators do their job. In January 2019 I predicted the Southeastern Conference media package was worth $300 million per year. Less than two years later, Disney paid $3 billion for a 10-year agreement with the SEC.

The focus of this research is to examine differences among four-year higher education institutions in how they use athletics to drive revenues, particularly during a period of declining enrollment and financial challenges in the industry.
