Overdue... Book Talk at the Los Angeles Public Library

I suppose if you have a book talk at a library, it is possible you can be "overdue" in posting about your experience. So, I have paid my fine and am now sharing that experience here.

On Saturday, April 11, I had the absolute pleasure to join fellow August Publications author Eric Vickrey in a Dodgers book talk at the Los Angeles Public Library, moderated by LA sportswriter Tom Hoffarth. Unfortunately, Fred Claire was unable to join us as we had hoped. 

Eric started the session with a presentation about his excellent book on Tommy Lasorda and the Dodgers 1968 draft class, considered the best in history. Many of the players taken in that draft were coached by Jim Gilliam in the 1970s, and Eric and I spoke to several of the same individuals for our books. After Eric's presentation, I briefly shared Gilliam's career highlights. We concluded with a Q/A moderated by Tom that included questions from the audience. Finally, several people approached afterward about purchasing books and having them signed.

The Los Angeles Public Library is one of the nation's best public libraries and it was truly an honor to speak there. Julie Bill, the Art, Music, and Recreation librarian at LAPL, was a complete pro and I thank her immensely for promoting the event.
